SHENANDOAH UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS: Three Earn VaSID Honors

Hockey

Shenandoah University Athletics issued the following announcement on May 26.

Three Shenandoah University field hockey players earned All-State honors in selections announced Wednesday morning by the Virginia State Sports Information Directors Association.

Junior Kelsey Jones headlines these honorees by being named as the Player of the Year as well as first team All-State.

Freshman Farren Winter joins Jones in earning a major award by being named as the state Rookie of the Year. Winter's classmate, Kylee Tuebner, rounds out the selections with a first team accolade as a defender.

All three women were previously named All-ODAC with Jones and Winter picking Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year accolades, respectively, from the league.

Jones, a three-time All-State honoree and the 2018 VaSID Rookie of the Year, had an ODAC- and team-leading 12 goals and six assists for 30 points.

Winter contributed three goals and four assists for 10 points and her opening goal of the Sweet Briar game (off of a Jones assist) on Apr. 9 was a game-winner.

Tuebner had four goals and five assists for 13 points this spring and picked up a defensive save versus Bridgewater on Mar. 26.
