Sherando High School had the highest enrollment among Frederick County schools, welcoming 1,642 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 52.7% of them were male, and 47.3% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 64.3% of Sherando High School's total enrollment.

Among the 18 schools in Frederick County, Millbrook High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,573 students, while James Wood High School welcomed 1,464 students to be ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Sherando High School is part of Frederick County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Frederick County, with its main office in Stephens City.

In the previous school year, Sherando High School also had the highest number of students among Frederick County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
