SHENANDOAH UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS: Football Schedule Announced

Football

Shenandoah University Athletics issued the following announcement on May 28.

Shenandoah University announced its 2021 football schedule Friday morning.

Shenandoah, under the direction of ninth-year head coach Scott Yoder, once again has five home games on tap in the 10-game schedule. SU plays at home in weeks one, five, eight, ten, and eleven with the Oct. 2 homecoming contest versus Bridgewater highlighting the home slate. That game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Shenandoah opens '21 season with a 1 p.m. non-league home contest versus Methodist. SU ended the 2019 schedule, its last full campaign, with a 70-35 win over the Monarchs.

After road tilts at N.C. Wesleyan and Hampden-Sydney in weeks two and three, respectively, followed by the bye week, Bridgewater visits Shentel for the homecoming game. The university is currently preparing to host both local and visiting fans at Shentel this fall.

Road games at Guilford on Oct. 9 and Ferrum on the 16th follow before SU hosts Emory & Henry on Oct. 23 in what is likely the last-ever gridiron matchup versus the Wasps. E&H has announced its intention to move to Division II this summer, leaving the ODAC in the process, and so this game will be played as a non-conference contest.

Averett University, a former USA South Conference foe, has been announced as a new member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference starting in July, 2022. It is expected that the Cougars will fill the Emory & Henry date in the schedule.

The E&H game also kicks off a homestretch in which the Hornets will be at home three times over the final four weeks of the regular season. The road finale is Oct. 30 at Randolph-Macon with home games on Nov. 6 versus Newport News Apprentice and Washington & Lee on Nov. 13 completing the slate.

The W&L game will also serve as senior day.

Eight of the 10 games are set for 1 p.m. starts. The Sept. 11 contest at N.C. Wesleyan, to be played on the NCWC campus, will kick off at noon while the BC game is the Hornets lone evening kick.

As a reminder, the department moved to digital ticketing for individual and season tickets, parking, and tailgating passes prior to the 2020 season. Links for purchase in all of those areas will be available July 1.
