A special type of holiday cheer is coming back to Winchester on November 28, 2022 when the annual Holiday Parade returns to Old Town. Hosted by Winchester Parks and Recreation (WPRD), the parade begins at 7 pm and typically features floats, bands, and vehicles representing local organizations. Santa himself will most certainly make an appearance, too! The annual tree lighting will take place immediately following the parade.
The last time the Holiday Parade was hosted in Winchester was 2019, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic that drastically changed the landscape of public events. Parks Director Chris Konyar anticipates an exciting and safe return to hosting the annual parade.
“The Holiday Parade serves as a wonderful tradition for the community to celebrate the holidays, and WPRD is ecstatic to bring it back after a two year hiatus,” he said. “The Parade and Tree Lighting symbolize the importance of community during such a joyous season. WPRD is looking forward to seeing the response from our past parade participants as well as new community groups who are just as excited as we are for the return of the Holiday Parade.”
Spirited and jolly community organizations are invited to participate in the parade by submitting an application! Applications will be available on the Winchester Parks and Recreation website on September 15 and are due by noon on Wednesday, November 9.
