Folks contributed $1,221 to see Darren “Fly” Lambert apply lipstick and kiss a cow

Folks contributed $1,221 to see Darren “Fly” Lambert apply lipstick and kiss a cow Friday night at the Clarke County Fair. Jingles, a Brown Swiss, was led to the Smooch-a-Moo fundraiser by Debbie Hardesty of Harvue Farms. Three other Smooch-a-Moo contestants – Melissa Astin, Sheriff’s Deputy Darrell Curtis, and Robyn Pickett – collectively raised another $1,409 for the Clarke County 4-H   Volunteer Leaders' Association. Melissa came in second in the monetary voting, so she gamely applied lipstick, too, and kissed Angus calf Charlie.
