Adding to his critique of foreign policy, Cline criticized the Biden administration's handling of a sensitive international incident on the same day, April 9, 2025. He expressed his disapproval in a tweet, noting "The Biden State Dept. held secret talks with Communist China about how the spy balloon would look if the American people found out.
