Ben Cline introduces welfare reform bill targeting eligibility loopholes

Congressman Ben Cline, representing Virginia’s 6th district since 2019, has been active on social media addressing various legislative and political issues. On December 9, 2024, he highlighted concerns about government spending and proposed legislation to address these issues. On December 9, 2024, Congressman Ben Cline addressed the issue of government spending through the Broad-Based Categorical Eligibility loophole. He stated that this loophole allows wealthy individuals to receive food stamps without undergoing asset checks. To combat this misuse of taxpayer dollars, he introduced the No Welfare for the Wealthy Act. This act aims to ensure states enforce asset and income limits set by federal guidelines. He argued that current gun control laws infringe upon these rights and emphasized supporting measures allowing law-abiding citizens to carry firearms for self-protection nationwide. "Across our nation, gun control laws are infringing on our 2nd Amendment rights. That’s why I firmly support this legislation that defends the rights of law-abiding Americans to carry firearms wherever they go, ensuring they can protect themselves and their loved ones."
