127 students were enrolled for 1st-grade in Clarke County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 127 1st-grade students enrolled in Clarke County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 5.9% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

The school that enrolled the largest number of 1st-grade students in the county was D. G. Cooley Elementary School.

Within Clarke County schools, the largest number of students were found in 12th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Clarke County ranked 96th in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 97th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
