In 2023-24 school year, white students had highest representation in Clarke County districts

White students comprised the largest ethnic group in Clarke County districts during the 2023-24 school year, according to reports from the Virginia Department of Education.

Of the 1,924 students attending Clarke County district schools, 73.4% were white. Hispanic made up the second largest ethnic group, comprising 15.2% of the student population.

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Clarke County districts, representing 74.3% of the student body.

In the 2023-24 school year, the total number of students enrolled in the county increased by 1.6% compared to the previous year.

The main offices of all districts mentioned in the story are located in cities associated with Clarke County.

As of November 2023, according to Public School Review, in the 2023-24 school year, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
