Congressman Ben Cline, representing Virginia's 6th district since 2019, has shared his views on recent political events through a series of tweets. Cline, who succeeded Bob Goodlatte and previously served in the Virginia House of Delegates, expressed his opinions on government shutdowns and crime-fighting efforts.
On March 13, 2025, Congressman Cline commented on the actions of Democrats regarding government operations. He noted a shift in stance from the previous year: "Last year, Democrats called it 'gambling with Americans’ livelihoods'—now they’re the ones shutting down the government."
The following day, March 14, 2025, he praised law enforcement for their efforts against gang violence. He highlighted the achievements of a new FBI task force: "The FBI’s new interagency task force has already made 214 arrests in just two weeks—taking down violent gang members, including MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. I'm proud to support efforts that crack down on crime and protect Virginians." He expressed gratitude towards Virginia law enforcement for their role in these efforts.
Later that day, Congressman Cline criticized House Democrats for their actions concerning government funding. He mentioned Senate Democrat Minority Leader Schumer's decision as crucial: "House Democrats tried to shut down the government—but thankfully, Senate Democrat Minority Leader Schumer ignored their reckless stunt." Cline accused House Democrats of engaging in political maneuvers rather than addressing border security or spending issues.
