There were 410 Black students enrolled in Winchester City Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 7.7% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Winchester City Public Schools District welcomed 4,236 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 9.7% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the school.

Winchester City Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Winchester City and has a main office in Winchester.

Among the seven schools in Winchester City Public Schools District, John Handley High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
