Clarke County issued the following announcement on Jan. 14

As of 10 a.m. Jan. 14 (and since March 18, 2020), VDH reports that Clarke County has 2,160 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 74 hospitalizations and 33 deaths. As of Jan. 14, 68.2% of Virginians are fully vaccinated; 62.2% of Clarke residents are fully vaccinated.

Clarke County’s community transmission rate is “high” as of Jan. 14, 2022, according to the CDC COVID Data Tracker. The CDC recommends everyone in Clarke County wear masks in public and in indoor settings, and follow local laws, rules, regulations, or guidance.

The CDC offers these guidelines for social gatherings.

Free COVID-19 vaccinations are available for ages 5 and up Monday through Friday — 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. — at the Clarke County Health Department. No appointment necessary. The Health Department, located at 100 N. Buckmarsh St. in Berryville, is part of the Lord Fairfax Health District. Call the Clarke County office at (540) 955-1033.

VDH recommends using its testing locator website to find available PCR tests and antigen tests, though it may not be complete. VDH provides no-cost rapid antigen tests to individuals who are 60 and older.

Virginia’s indoor mask mandate aligns with current CDC guidance. Fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance. All students, teachers, staff, and visitors must wear masks over their noses and mouths while on school property per Virginia’s Aug. 12, 2021, Public Health Emergency Order requiring universal masking in all indoor settings in Virginia’s K-12 schools.

Executive Order 79, which ends commonsense public health COVID-19 restrictions in Virginia, went into effect May 28, 2021, and remains in effect until amended or rescinded by further executive order.

Winchester-based Valley Health has web pages dedicated to COVID-19: Get Vaccinated and Frequently Asked Questions. Or, go to GetVaccineAnswers.org.

Everyone in the United States can find free COVID-19 vaccinations using vaccines.gov. Virginia residents without computers should call (877) 829-4682.
