Roll-off trash cart deliveries to begin city-wide next week

3

City of Winchester issued the following announcement on Sept. 3

The City’s vendor, Rehrig Pacific Company, will begin delivering roll-off trash carts to all remaining customers on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, and expect to be finished within three weeks (weather permitting). The new carts are being provided at no up-front costs to customers and will be maintained by the City.

“This program will help make the collection process much safer for our employees by minimizing the amount of heavy containers that must be lifted,” stated Michael Neese, Refuse and Recycling Manager. “The carts are not only expected to help reduce employee injuries but also keep Winchester beautiful by decreasing the amount of litter from unsecured trash bags and cans.”

Customers should begin using their new cart for trash collection only as soon as they receive it. Please place all trash in bags. There is no limit to the number of bags that can be placed inside the cart, but the lid must close.

We encourage customers to use their old cans for recycling or yard waste collection. However, if they no longer want their old can, they can set it out by the curb on their trash collection day (empty) with a note telling the crew that they want to throw it away.

A brochure of information will be included with every trash cart delivered and more information about the program is available on the Public Works web page
