WASHINGTON, D.C. – On May 24, Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA) released the following statement on the passage of his bill, the Ensuring Accountability in Agency Rulemaking Act (H.R. 357), out of the House Committee on the Judiciary:
“Too many costly regulations are improperly initiated and issued by unelected career bureaucrats, rather than an individual appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate,” said Cline.“That is unacceptable. On May 24, my legislation passed out of the House Committee on the Judiciary, which ensures federal regulations are made by officials who are accountable to Congress and to the American people.”
Ensuring Accountability in Agency Rulemaking Act (H.R. 357)
The Ensuring Accountability in Agency Rulemaking Act would require all rules proposed by federal agencies, except in limited circumstances, to be signed and issued by an individual appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.
