Congressman Ben Cline, representing Virginia’s 6th district since 2019, has recently been active on social media discussing legislative initiatives. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972, Cline currently resides in Fincastle and holds degrees from Bates College and the University of Richmond.
On May 21, Congressman Cline announced his introduction of the Hearing Protection Act. He stated that the bill aims to “eliminate the tax and record-keeping requirements for suppressors—tools that promote safe, responsible firearm use.” He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that this legislation is included in a reconciliation bill as a means to protect Second Amendment rights.
The following day, May 22, Cline expressed pride in sponsoring the Hearing Protection Act and reported its inclusion in what he referred to as the “Big Beautiful Bill” passed by the House. He pledged continued efforts to maintain its presence as it moves to the Senate next month and expressed gratitude for those who supported its passage.
Later on May 22, Congressman Cline commented on the broader implications of the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” describing it as a significant victory for America’s farmers and ranchers. According to him, it modernizes agriculture programs while providing tax relief and estate tax protections crucial for family farms’ sustainability through challenging times.
Cline has served in Congress since replacing Bob Goodlatte in 2019. Prior to this role, he was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 until his congressional election.
