In-state tuition and fees rose 2.4 percent for 2018-19 at Lord Fairfax Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Virginia residents paid $4,739 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $112 more than the $4,627 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 125.1 percent more than residents this year, or $10,667. Their price tag grew 1.1 percent from $10,555 in 2017-18.

About 94 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are Virginia residents. About 2 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 66 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 302 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.2 million and 63 students took out student loans totaling more than $279,920.

Including all undergraduates (6,798), 2,164 students used grants or scholarships totaling $6 million, and 445 students took out $2.2 million in federal student loans.
