Congressman Ben Cline, currently serving Virginia’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of statements via Twitter addressing national defense, personal loss, and small business legislation.
On May 20, 2025, Congressman Cline expressed support for “The Golden Dome missile defense shield,” describing it as “a bold step to strengthen our national defense.” He emphasized the necessity of investing in defense capabilities due to increasing threats from China and Iran.
The following day, on May 21, 2025, Cline shared his condolences upon learning about the death of a fellow Virginian lawmaker. He stated, “I’m saddened to learn of the passing of my Virginia colleague, Congressman Gerry Connolly.” He extended prayers to Connolly’s family and associates.
Later that day, Congressman Cline addressed economic concerns regarding federal regulations impacting small businesses. In his statement on Twitter he said that “Washington’s red tape keeps holding them back.” The congressman advocated for the PROVE IT Act which aims to prevent generalized mandates and ensure that rules are suitable for small businesses rather than favoring larger government interests.
Ben Cline has been a member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Bob Goodlatte. Before this role, he served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002 until 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 and now residing in Fincastle, he holds degrees from Bates College and the University of Richmond.
