Congressman Ben Cline, representing Virginia’s 6th district, is making headlines with recent statements on significant national issues. His tweets, posted on April 8 and 9, 2025, address topics ranging from diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in American diplomacy to military policies and immigration laws.

In a tweet posted on April 8, 2025, “DEI nonsense has no place in American diplomacy. Foreign service officers should be chosen for their qualifications, not for checking a progressive box. Glad to see @SecRubio taking action to restore merit and common sense.” Cline expressed his disapproval of DEI initiatives within American diplomacy, advocating for selection based on qualifications rather than progressive criteria.

Later that day, Cline criticized the military’s COVID vaccine mandate. In his tweet “The military COVID vaccine mandate penalized our brave servicemembers and put America’s readiness at risk. While I’m pleased to see some being reenlisted, justice must be served for all who were discharged for refusing the mandate across every branch of the military.” posted on April 8, 2025, he argued the mandate unfairly punished service members and compromised national readiness.

Cline continued to voice his concerns about immigration policies in a tweet on April 9, 2025, stating, “The Biden Administration abused parole authority to allow 900,000 illegal immigrants to remain in the U.S. I applaud @POTUS and @SecNoem for revoking these paroles and taking steps to restore the intent and the rule of law.” He criticized the Biden Administration’s use of parole authority, supporting actions to enforce immigration laws.
