Congressman Ben Cline, representing Virginia’s 6th district since 2019, has shared a series of statements via social media addressing key political issues. His comments span topics from international relations to domestic security and law enforcement.
On May 6, 2025, Congressman Cline expressed support for former President Donald Trump’s stance on Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He stated that “President Trump is right—under no circumstances should Iran be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon.” He emphasized the importance of the Maximum Pressure Act in maintaining sanctions against Iran until it ceases its nuclear activities and support for terrorism.
Later that day, at 17:10 UTC, Cline addressed concerns regarding the FBI’s handling of the investigation into the 2017 Congressional Baseball Shooting. He remarked that “The FBI tried to bury the truth about the 2017 Congressional Baseball Shooting.” According to him, a report by the House Intelligence Committee confirms that this was a targeted attack on Republican Congressmen by a left-wing extremist and accused the Bureau of distorting facts.
In another post made at 21:40 UTC on May 6, Congressman Cline celebrated a significant achievement in law enforcement under President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi. He declared it “a major win for the rule of law and public safety,” highlighting that high-level cartel operatives have been apprehended and announcing what he described as “the largest fentanyl seizure in our nation’s history.”
Ben Cline has served in Congress since succeeding Bob Goodlatte in Virginia’s 6th District. Prior to his congressional tenure, he was part of Virginia’s House of Delegates from 2002 until 2018. Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972, Cline currently resides in Fincastle. His educational background includes a BA from Bates College and a JD from the University of Richmond.
